Z turned 8 months on the 27th, this is a summary of his 7th month.
From the What to Expect The First Year, this is what he can do...
Should be able to:
- feed self a cracker
- razz
- coo or babble when happy
- smile often when interacting
will probably be able to:
- sit without support
- bear some weight on legs when held upright
- object if you take a toy away
- work to get a toy out of reach
- look for dropped objects
- rake with fingers an object and pick it up in fist
- turn in the direction of a voice
- babble combining vowels and consonants such as ga-ga-ga, ba-ba-ba, ma-ma-ma, da-da-da. (Z only still says ga-ga-ga)
- play peekaboo
- creep or crawl (he can't crawl)
- pass a cube or other object from one hand to another
- stand holding onto someone or something
- Get into sitting position from stomach (this happened at the very end of the month)
- pick up tiny object with any part of thumb and forefinger
Our boy is doing so fantastic!! He started holding his bottle by himself right at the end of last month, I don't remember if I covered that or not. He is doing very well eating regular food also. He can rake the food into his hand, but hasn't mastered the opening of the hand to insert it into his mouth. He loves all food, well all food except peaches. I don't understand that. I will try to sneak it in with some other food and he just will have nothing of it. There is still the milk sensitivity going on. If he has mashed potatoes with milk he will start itching his face and break out. Still hoping that will even itself out by his first birthday. He has ZERO teeth. I am ok with this fact if the rumors of- the longer it takes, the better teeth they have- are true! My teeth are terrible, so soft and I always have problems. He wiggles so much during diapering(again he gets it honestly), it is nearly impossible to get one on him straight, and its the end of the world to put clothes on! This kid is such a MOVER!!! Like I am going to have my hands full when he starts crawling really well.
We had company for a week this month and then we went on vacation to see the family for over a week and half, so it was a very full time for Z. We "normally" are a quiet family. I don't like for the tv to be on ALL the time (although I do use it for background noise some), don't turn on music, etc. It is just me talking to the poor guy all day long. He very much enjoys when we go out and he can socialize. He takes after his daddy in that area. E doesn't know strangers, he can easily talk to anyone about anything. He is funny, flirty and people just respond to him very well. Z is just like that! He will watch people and as soon as they look at him, a HUGE smile will light up his face and he starts babbling to them and wants to be noticed. Of course people love that and we spend lots of time chatting with random strangers (usually women) talking to my son while he is flirting. Becoming a mom changes EVERYTHING in your life.
Naptime and bedtime has become very difficult. With the company and going on vacation, this boy got SPOILED!! I don't think he took the first nap or went to bed by himself. Honestly I wouldn't want it any other way. I am happy that the family got to enjoy him so much. Now we just have some work to do on catching him back up to going to sleep by himself! He is still in that weird phase where he is waking up religiously around midnight. I still haven't figured out how to break this habit... its definitely a step back from sleeping through the night.
He is playing great by himself! He like legit loves his toys. He goes from one toy to the next making them all make noise at the same time. It is so funny. I want to know what is really going on in that little head. Z makes me so happy!
